altares
video performance + installation

2014
In altares, the artist has used the concept of an alter as a starting point. An alter, a holy and personal place, which you can see used in Mexico during the día de los muertos (the day of the dead) celebration.
On the basis of this concept, she has created three alters where she carries out a performance for each one. The work is about the relationship between time, place and man. It is based on human experiences in a globalized world. Nostalgia, the course of time, identity and the relationships between man and object are all subjects addressed in her work.
altares was exhibited at Galería en Blanco (Santiago, Chile) from 03.04 - 25.04.2015. The exhibition with the same name (altares) showed the three video performances with two of them with an installation next to the single video projection. The first installation is composed by the dress, worn by the artist during the performance, wet, hung over gravel forming a circle. The wet dress would drip on the gravel, changing its color, to later on dry and return to its original state. The second installation shows the ripped and sown photographes made during the performance, frammed, hanging on the gallery walls.
